Buongiorno e benvenuto......

As you meander your way into the village of North Fitzroy, either from the beauty and serenity of Edinburgh Gardens or from the hustle of Brunswick Street, all roads lead to the mediteranian.

The style of Spanish architect Gaudi blended with a touch of the Flintstone, The Red Olive on St Georges is a taste of the unity between the past and the future.

The 7 mosaic panels designed and hand painted by local and well respected ceramisists Antonio and Susan Balletta stimulate the visual senses creating a pictorial journey into the fine touches of Western Europe which is in turn complimented by the aromas emanating from the (2m base diameter) Ima Forni Wood Fire Pizza Oven and backed by charismatic and saltry music filling this acoustic chamber.

The vision for the summer months is to install bi-folding bay doors to open up to the street and to also create a couch friendly outside beer garden for those who enjoy the elements. For those colder Melbourne days and nights the large open fire - similar to those used in ski resorts is a must.

Taking proprietor Pasquale Polito (whose family has been importing and installing commercial and wood fired pizza ovens for decades), and friends 9 months to design and construct, ( Anthony Balletta, Mario Caruso, Aldo Polito, Pino & Tony Polito. The Red Olive, now in its the 6th year, with its open plan dining area and informal couch seating space is available for your enjoyment for breakfast, lunch and dinner or perfect for entertaining large groups and functions.

Buon appetito!
